The 2018 SuperDuty Commercial F-250 XL is a bad ass truck, and it will provide years of service for a dedicated hotshot trucker. This truck has all the features – both interior and exterior that will excite any hotshot trucker. 


The Ford F-250 XL comes with a standard 6.2L SOHC 2-valve Flex Fuel V8 engine. It does come standard with a TorqShift Heavy-Duty 6-Speed SelectShift Automatic Transmission. This will provide a lot of power if you hauling heavy loads. 

Customers do have the option to have the Ford F-250 XL with a 6.7L Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel engine and an upgraded diesel engine with exhaust braking. 


The Ford F-250 XL has single heavy-duty alternators and dual alternators with a 332-amp total on the diesel engine only.  

There is a twin I-Beam front axle on coil spring suspension on the 4 X 2 model. There is a mono-beam front axle with coil spring suspension on the 4 X 4 model. This will provide a smoother ride, and the coil suspension will cushion bumpy roads to give an easier ride. 

There is a heavy-duty shock absorber to absorb the jolts and vibrations of the truck. 

The brakes are 4-wheel power disc brakes with the anti-lock brake system. The braking system promotes safety. 

The Ford F-250 XL is equipped with AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control. This prevents rolling and is more fuel efficient. 

There is a front stabilizer bar to keep everything steady.

Using a Trailer

It goes without saying that a hotshot trucker needs to have a trailer hitch receiver on it. 

The F-250 XL comes with a trailer hitch receiver, and there is an option for a gooseneck trailer hitch receiver in the bed of the truck. 

There is trailer sway control, and this will help prevent your trailer from swaying into other lanes while traveling down the highway. Not only is a swaying trailer dangerous for you, but it is also dangerous for other drivers. 

Fuel Tanks 

There is a 34-gallon fuel tank on the gas engine model. There is a 29-gallon fuel tank on the diesel model with a 142-inch and 148-inch wheelbase. On the diesel model with a 160-inch and 164-inch wheelbase, there is a 34-gallon fuel tank.  


There is power steering and damper steering available on the Ford SuperDuty Commercial F-250 XL.

Wheels & Tires 

The standard wheels are 17-inch argent-painted steel wheels. There is a LT245/75RX17E BSW A/S plus tires. There is also a spare tire, wheel, lock and frame-mounted carrier. There is also a 2-ton, mechanical jack. 

The F-250 XL also has a tire pressure monitoring system. When your tire pressure is low, the truck will alert you to put more air in your tires. 

Safety Features 

Safety is a top priority, and this truck is equipped with the right safety features. 

There are airbags in the front seat and front passenger seat. There is a deactivation switch if you choose to turn the airbags off. In addition to the front airbags, there is also a safety canopy system with roll-fold-side curtain airbags. 

There is a Belt-Minder, and that is an alert to put on your seatbelt. A chime and flashing warning light will come on and instrument cluster if belts are not buckled. 

Of course, there are seatbelts in the F-250  XL. The seatbelts are color coordinated with height adjustment. 

Also, the truck is equipped with the SOS Post Crash Alert System. Hopefully, you will never be in that situation, but in the event you are, your truck has a safety feature for that. 

The truck also has SecuriLock Anti-Theft ignition and MyKey so your truck is secure.
